Hellivision is a psychedelic dub rock trio from Seoul, Korea known for their live performances. Formed in 2011, the trio has been performing rigorously with a full-length debut album “HellRevision” released in 2012. They perform pieces with loosely organized themes/structure and jam through them in trying to realize a spontaneous composition which are very expressive with dynamics, thematic development, and overall structure. In doing this, members are drawing materials from their diverse past and current musical experience. Gunwoong Oh, bass, was a member of psychedelic group “the mustangs” that played even freer form of improvisation; Jiwan Jung was member of famed band “Cocore” and is a member of post-rock group “Underwear band” and raggae rock band “Gureung Train”; Taehun Lee plays in jazz funk band “Second Session” and samba band “Flower Pot.” With all the side project going, members are enjoying mutual influence and naturally developing ability to create a sound that combines all the influences. Thus, their live shows are always morphing and nerve-racking as they carry the risk of unsuccessful combinations. But the band and fans enjoy this because they know when it works, it’s going to be something they have never heard of.
